Homemade Pumpkin Pie: Making The Perfect Thanksgiving Dessert

Thanksgiving is a favorite holiday for many, with families coming together to enjoy a wonderful meal. One of the most popular dishes served on Thanksgiving is homemade pumpkin pie.

This classic dessert is easy to make and a crowd pleaser. With just a few simple ingredients and some careful preparation, you can make the perfect Thanksgiving pumpkin pie. 

Ingredients and supplies

Making a homemade pecan pie requires just a few ingredients, including canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, eggs, white and light brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, nutmeg, and an unbaked pie crust.

You will also need a large mixing bowl, a whisk, and a 9-inch pie pan. If desired, you can also add a few extra ingredients such as chopped pecans, crystallized ginger, or a teaspoon of molasses for extra flavor. 

Instructions

To begin, preheat your oven to 425°F. Unroll the pie crust and place it in the 9-inch pie pan. Make sure to press it down so it fits snugly against the bottom and sides of the pan. 

In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, eggs, white and light brown sugar, salt, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and nutmeg. Use a whisk to mix all of the ingredients together until they are smooth. 

Pour the pumpkin mixture into the pie crust and spread it out evenly. If desired, you can sprinkle chopped pecans, crystallized ginger, or a teaspoon of molasses on top of the pumpkin mixture. Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
